"Perfectly Healthy Habits" is a bittersweet comedy about Melissa, a reclusive, forty-something cashier who uses cigarettes to cope with stress and push people away, including her former best friend, Kay. When Melissa's persistent cough turns out to be tuberculosis, her isolated world crumbles under the weight of her illness and mounting medical bills. Unbeknownst to Melissa, Kay, now living a stable life across the country, sees Melissa's alarming social media posts and, despite a decade of silence, impulsively travels to stage an intervention. Though initially met with Melissa's resistance and sharp words, Kay's unwavering compassion slowly breaks through Melissa's tough exterior. As they navigate Melissa's illness, their shared history resurfaces, rekindling their comedic, charming, and supportive friendship. The film follows their journey as Melissa is forced to confront her unhealthy habits and vulnerability, while Kay learns patience in helping her friend heal, ultimately revealing that true recovery comes from imperfect connections and the resilience of shared struggle, proving that family can be found in the most unexpected places.
